Travel Tips (Guangzhou)

TRAVEL TIPS (GUANGZHOU, CHINA)
19 Oct 2013

If you plan to travel to Guangzhou, China, there are things you should take note.

- After booked air ticket (make sure to print itinerary)
- Find which hotel you want to stay (Some hotels did not accept people stay there and buy goods in bulk for business. Please check first before booking)
- For Malaysian, you need to apply Visa. Bring along your passport, air ticket booking intinerary and 1 or 2 pasport size photo.
- Plan your trip whether or not want to use tour guide (or lebih suka main redah aje pun takpe). Nowadays, you can find full package ground arrangement or separate pun bole. For me, much cheaper and save get a malaysian tour guide there (one day service from 9.30 am to 7 pm around RM200 to RM300 per group, tak kiralah brape ramai pun dalam group tu).
- Please take note that all payment including tour guide must pay in China currency (RMB). For your information, all shops in Guangzhou tak terima credit card (only big hotels and some high-end shopping complex). All transaction MUST be in cash and debit card only. However, if you have saving account with HSBC or OCBC, you can go to ATM machine there and withdraw your money as usual. About RM5 will be charge per transaction.
- No worries about transportation as most of the places near to MRT station. Tapi itu untuk mereka yang nak makan angin and shopping barang sikit-sikit je. But for those yang nak beli banyak barang for business, dinasihatkan sewa teksi or kete senang nak letak barang. Teksi dalam 1 hari (siap tunggunya) about RM150. However, if 1 group more than 3 people, better rent a car (lagi murah).
- Masa urusan jual beli, mesti minta tolong tour guide tu buat tawar menawar and check duit baki tu bukan duit palsu.
- Make sure check your goods before make a payment, this is because sometimes ada yang rosak (especially sape yang beli banyak). Perlu ambil masa skit nak check. Jangan lupa simpan resit sebagai bukti pembelian. Manalah tahu, in future nak order kat kedai yang sama ke.
- Lastly, at the airport masa nak balik, do not keep your lighter in your handcarry. Please put-in your luggage before check-in or else immigration officer there will seized it.
